Bob, That's the way TT does it. The ORION is my first TT radio, and I didn't like that at first. Now I just don't worry about it. I use: Step size 10, and VFO rate to fast. THEN, THE NICE THING IS: If, while the MAIN RX ( or SUB RX if you are using it at the time) BUTTON IS PRESSED ONCE, the VFO will go to the NEXT HIGHEST STEP (100) then you can move fast around the band, then just push MAIN RX again to return to normal step size.
