The ARRL Test procedure is available at:
<http://www.arrl.org/members-only/prodrev/testproc.pdf>
Yes - it is a "Members Only" page. It's a 159 page document in PDF form. No
I have not tried to read the whole thing yet so I'm not going to comment on
the validity of anything except to say that as long as every radio is
judged by the same test them there is some sort of a standard - good, bad
or indifferent.
Some tests can be biased toward certain aspects and/or against others. Most
of these are prepared by organizations with a stake in the outcome (ie:
manufacturers and sales weasels.) Yes the League has a sort of interest;
that of operation within the packed bands we have available. That point of
course is why we argue the validity of the IP2 & IP3. I'd venture the
League does the best they can with the equipment donated and the
possibility the we could possibly even reproduce the same test in our own
garage or where ever the spouse allows us to play.
