I seem to remember that one of the B & W antennas used this "technique" of
adding fixed resistors to the antenna. The antenna does apparently radiate
RF but I wonder just how much signal turns into heat in the resistors?

It works ... but ...

similar dipole ... 20m up it's about even, maybe.
WHY ? Look directly opposite the feed point
and you'll see this LARGE "thing" ... Seems
like QST stated it's a 600 ohm resistor and
that why (using the 12:1 balun at the feedpoint)
it "shows a low SWR across the bands" ...
I had one here many years ago ... and gave it
to a friend to use while he put up his tower, he
didn't keep it up long either.
For LESS money, I'd go with a normal dipole
and coax or open wire feed ... We used to
laugh about it as my "Cantenna in the air".
Better than nothing ... yes, and lets you
get/stay on the air. A "secret weapon"
that defines antenna theory and works
better than green snot ? Not a chance.
Save your money for a better project ...
Well, back to lurking I go ...
