Having had no less than 2 Omni V1's, I can vouch for the click. A friend of
mine bought a brand new Omni VI Plus and it had the same problem. Here are
some things I remember

1. The click was only noticable when using QSK Fast mode.

2. It varied per band.

3. Changing the passband tuning had an effect on it. Click was worse
    when passband was centered.

4. Reducing the RF Gain reduced the click
.
5. Slow QSK mode tended to eliminate it.

6. Using an external DSP...MFJ, I was able to totally eliminate the
click. Very little processing was needed.

7. Using headphones would drive anyone nuts.

8. Click was worse on rig nr. 1 and not so bad on nr 2. No two Omni
    VI's alike!

9. Wish I had know about connector 52 back then.

Question: Is there a possibility that disconnection connector 52 lengthens
the delay and thus slowing the qsk? IF so, this ain't playing fair.

So I went back to the Omni V with it's better keying and no click.
Don't get to excited though because TenTec used 3 different methods of
switching in the front end. Diode, relay and transistor. Some might click
and some might not.

Now if we could just eliminate the white noise from the mixers.......

And BTW. Don't go thinking that JA rigs have any better qsk. Only a few do.
But then you have other problems like chopped dits and ringy filters.
