As long as all his transmitters, receivers, and antenna are inside the
500-meter circle, why do we care how long his mike cord is? Remote control
is perfectly legal, at least under FCC jurisdiction, and gives no particular
advantage (other than maybe more comfortable seating) over a person with
actual fingers on the knobs. In fact we probably could make a persuasive
case that the remote operator is disadvantaged by "path lag" in the
controlpoint-to-station link.
If the rules don't prohibit this configuration, your "kind of cheating"
notion has a distinct Luddite ring to it.

It's simple. Without the internet, you could not have

Then just extend your microphone, keyer and earphone
cables for 100 km, and let us know how many QSOs you
have. Remote control is different - that's why it's
called remote control.

This is the "I'm special" argument - I have lots of
"problems" and cannot reasonably be expected to abide
by the rules.

This interpretation is flawed. We're talking about
amateur radio contesting, and you want to use the
internet to replace RF in the signal path between you
and the other operators. What you're proposing is
something other than amateur radio contesting.
