I have written and presented at several conventions (including Dayton
Contest Forum) a paper called "Building A One Tower Station" that addresses
these antenna questions as well as a couple of others. Send me your postal
address and I'll send you a copy.
BTW, no where in my paper do I recommend Mosley antennas.

Hi,
I can't really see the point in changing a callsign unless it was HH5HH or
something similar. (or you moved from one district to another) The call is
your identity.
For contests I think the signal must be loud but even more important it must
be known.
Fx SM7PKK is much easier to have in contests now than it was when I started
out. It has
become very seldom someone misses the last K in my call nowadays. In any
pileup it can be=20
both good and bad with a short and long call. If fx W6AA and SM7PKK call at
the same time=20
and we are about the same strenght I might actually be logged first due to
my longer call as when the initial=20
QRM settles down I still have KK left to send. and other times W6AA would
get through first since
he could almost get his call in twice during my one time It is quite often
the case that people in a pileup
pick up my two last even though I ALWAYS give my full call. And not too
seldom can they fill in the
missing parts if they got SM--KK.
If I changed my call (or anyone else) I think it would take a few years in
major contests to get the
same response again. In a contest the relaxed contesters work the guys who
are strong and those who
seem to be easy to work unless they ofcourse are rare. If you then have a
recognized call it will add on to the=20
pile. That is why stations like K1AR always get worked a whole lot from EU
in contests. People have heard
them over and over and they know they will get through so it=B4s an easy
point. The same goes for WN4KKN
People just about need to hear WN4 to know who it is even if QRM covered the
rest of the call.
Remember how people got confused when both EA8EA and EA9EA showed up after a
few years when only EA8EA
had been on for 2 -3 years without EA9EA being there.
We need to be loud and we need to work the callsign in to peoples minds.
(almost like the TV-commercials try to do)

No problems here. I take a file to the area to be repaired to make sure it
is clean - rust can sometimes sneak under the edges of the existing
galvanizing near a nick. Also, make sure it is a warm day, "COLD" does not
