Hi Jerry, Yes. In fact, a roofing filter is required by definition in any superhet, for image suppression and to reduce the statistical likelihood that strong out-of-band signals will ride down the IF chain and overload downstream stages. In an up-converting design, the roofing filter is placed at the IF output of the first mixer (up-converter).
