I have a new FT-990 and it's perfectly quite with rf gain turned down. I
have done several cw contest with mine since Iv'e had it. The guest ops
have commented how quite its and how nice it works on cw. I have the 500
and 2.0 filters. I love it.
I just wish it had a headphone monitor for SSB, and DVS-2 sounded better.
I believe it to be a better cw rig than. Although we did have a good
score in SS phone and a sweep. We used club call W5NC.
