There is a very good reason to request different registration codes. The
problem with only changing CALLPREFIX in writelog.ini (as compared to
getting a new registration key), is that in Rttyrite, your current call will
be highlighted whenever you CQ or someone answers you with your call. This
is true for RTTY or the CW decoder. Hitting Insert puts your call in the
Entry window and sends you your exchange! One work-around is to put dummy
QSOs in the log with your call on each band. The problem with that,
however, is that WL thinks it has worked the multiplier that you represent.
After the contest, I go in and delete the dummy QSOs.
So, it is a trade-off between requesting a registration key for the call
used in the contest, and dealing with the problem above.

You can get different registration codes for each of your callsigns with a
single license but you have to reinitialize Writelog every time you want to
switch. I see no reason to do this unless this is a permanent one time
change. I have been using Writelog with three different callsigns for well
over a decade with no issues and I am adding a forth call to it in March. I
just make sure to set CALLPREFIX= (in the writelog.ini) to the prefix of the
country that I am operating from and enter the callsign that I used when
creating the Cabrillo file.

This problem has surfaced its ugly head this past few days and need to find
out how others handle this issue.
How do I change my call sign within the software? I'm guessing I can't?
It's branded into the software when you purchase the registration? Correct?
So what do others do when they have guest operators show up and want to
operate using writelog and their call sign; special events or having four
guest operators stop by in 3 days. The variable "mycall" is now set to my
KL1JP. What if I want to operate as W1AW/KL7 and use my writelog software
which is registered to KL1JP. Do I need to buy writelog in bulk?
Thanks
Dan KL1JP
