"Hardware generated FSK" and the MMTTY FSK are mutually exclusive. You
choose one or the other as follows:

1. Hardware FSK uses Rttyrite's WinRitty FSK capability. When XMMT is
selected on Rttyrite's TU Type menu, the selection of a COM port number on
Rttyrite's Port menu tells WriteLog that you want to use WinRtty's FSK for
transmit. At the bottom of Rttyrite's port menu there are three choices for
how WinRtty generates FSK: Hardware generated FSK, Software generated FSK
(Txd) and Software generated FSK (DTR).

2. If you want to use MMTTY's FSK capability for transmit, then you select
'None' on the Rttyrite Port menu and the three FSK choices at the bottom of
the Port menu are grayed out, although one of them will be checked by not
operative. Then go to the MMTTY Options/TX tab to set the COM port.
Depending on your COM port hardware capability, you may need to set the USB
menu to C: Limiting Speed. You also have the choice to use EXTFSK, which
involves installing of the EXTFSK software for MMTTY and configuration.

There are a lot of alternatives and it can be confusing without a clear
picture in mind. Don is expanding his tutorials on rttycontesting.com to
cover all paths. Joe is updating the microHAM products' WriteLog
application notes to cover a reasonable subset of the total choices when
those keyers are used. Most of us will not want to venture into this space
(WriteLog/MMTTY/2Tone/microHAM) without one or both of these documents in
hand. ;)
