Jim:
Appreciate your response.
I'm not clear on exactly what you mean by "separately" setting up the
MMTTY engine.
When in Writelog, I went to XMMT setup, which then took me to MMTTY,
where I configured the serial port for PTT and the sound card settings
(as they are set for MMTTY standalone).
Is that what you mean by "separately" setting up the MTTY engine?
If so, I have done that.
If not, what else do I need to do?
With thanks and 73,

Al,
At the chance of being redundant and me being behind the power curve
of what you have done here already let me offer a couple of thoughts.
MMTTY as a stand alone program is not the same MMTTY that is used with
Writelog. With MMTTY as a stand alone program working satisfactory
you have only assured your hardware is capable of functioning as
designed. Nothing more, nothing less.
The MMTTY used by Writelog is referred to as a MMTTY engine as is
separate from the stand alone MMTTY. The MMTTY engine must be setup
separately and in addition to comport and other setup items in
Writelog. Without setting up the MMTTY engine separately Writelog may
still control PTT and your radio will have no RTTY output.
If I'm way behind where you are in troubleshooting please forgive me.
It seemed from watching the email you might not have separately setup
the MMTTY engine. Been there done that more than once.
Good luck,

Another clue:
My regular (i.e., non-contesting) logging program is Logger 32.
Logger 32 has RTTY capability, using either MMTTY or 2Tone.
Given the issue that I am currently experiencing with RTTY on
Writelog, I decided to check to see if I had the same issue in
Logger 32.
Well, surprise, surprise: MMTTY works perfectly fine in Logger 32!
It keys the Kenwood TS-990, and the radio emits RF.
So, with my setup, previously described, MMTTY works properly both
standalone and with Logger 32.
But with the new version of Writelog using XMMT.ocx and with the
MMTTY plug-in removed, the radio will key, but will not emit RF.
So my dim-witted logic points to the new version of Writelog as
the culprit.
But I don't see others chiming in with my problem, so I am left
with a MYSTERY.

Al, K6RIM
