Not with the FT-450/950/2000/3000/5000/9000 in their default
configuration. The "new" Yaesu transceivers require handshake
on the CAT port which prevents using DTR and RTS for CW and PTT
respectively.

Hi Bruce,

I use an old Thinkpad Laptop with a real serial port. My rig (mainly 6M)
is an FT-920. I use a Rigblaster with a slight modification.
Radio control is via TX/RX and GND
DTR line is CW sending - as defined by "PC Generates" in the setup ports
screen
RTS is PTT as also defined in the setup ports screen (all mode PTTon
RTS) and CW PTT.... (On LPT pin 16/COMM RTS)
Inside the Rigblaster, I isolated the DTR line through an opto coupler
and feed that to the Key In on the FT-920.
Works fine. Also with the setup, I just shut down Writelog and open WSJT
for FSK441 on 6M.

Subject: [WriteLog] FTdx5000 keying setup question
I'm helping a friend interface his FTdx5000 to Writelog. I am not
familiar with the rig. He is able to connect to the rig, display
frequencies, and change modes/bands etc. Now he would like to use
Writelog for sending stored CW messages via the function keys. Does he
need a separate RS232 port w/a transistor interface to the key jack, or
will the rig key via software commands over the existing serial line? If
it will, what are the appropriate port setup parameters to use? We have
tried PC generates, and checking the CW radio button on the rig line,
but no joy.
Thanks & 73
