TS-870 should work with a standard serial cable. By default the
TS-870 requires handshake on RTS/CTS so make sure you have not set
anything in WRITELOG.INI that will prevent proper operation of RTS.
*If* you set CW/PTT on the rig control port you will need to use a
three wire cable (2,3 & 5) and install a jumper between pins 7/8
on the rig end to keep the transceiver happy.
