Alan,
I have (2) K3s, WriteLog, and audio fed through the sound card and a DX
Doubler. When SSB only (no DVK) the audio is fine in K3 Vox mode. However,
when using the DVK and K3 VOX, (sound card DVK / WriteLog / WinXP) the K3s
(both of them) hang in XMIT until I push escape......sometimes!!! The only
way I have been able to get around it is to use PTT when using the DVK.
All 'on the fly' recording works fine - if in PTT. If in VOX, I can't
always get the recording to stop fast enough. Why..... it hangs in XMIT.
So, when I want to record on the fly, I turn off VOX. By pushing Shift-fn
(what ever key) PTT is asserted by the PC and all is well and escape
immediately stops the recording.
I think this is something K3 related as the exact same configuration worked
with my FT1000-MPs. NO HANGING !!

Bruce - N1LN

Subject: [WriteLog] setup issue with microHAM
This is getting fustrating. I'm using WL 10.77H
Rig is K3 plus the microHAM MK2R+ (with router 7.7.1). Computer is an XP
laptop.
SSB audio works fine .. manually. Mic is looped through the MK2R+ sound
card function. SB setup has both the recording loop and echo microphone
checked.
I'm using the MK2R+ box for the CW keyer and sound card functions .. but
just for one radio.
Problem 1: Playing a recorded SSB message works fine until the end. At the
end, rig control does not switch back to RX. However, the TX LED on the
microHAM box turns off properly. Yet, the radio stays in TX mode until I
hit the ESC key. Also, in Windows audio, the Mic is muted during actual wave
file playing, then unmutes correctly at the end. It's just the radio that
gets stuck in TX.
Problem 2: Recording an SSB message fails. Audio level is zero on record as
if the mic is muted. However, playing an old message (made >year ago) works
OK. Or playing a message recorded outside of Writelog works OK too (except
for problem 1 above). WlogSbControl shows "USB Voice CODEC" in all areas,
which is correct. However, the Mic level bar is grayed out, but checked as
"active".
This has to be some dumb setup issue. I dont do SSB very often, but every
time I do this it's a real headache. Presently have the normal station
disrupted and I'm setting up a portable station for use in CQP next weekend.
