Nothing I have done has been able to get rid of the USERPARA.INI error on
startup of the MMTTY when selected as TU in WriteLog. I
mentioned in my previous post that the error does not occur directly after a
reboot. But I've also found that directly after a
reboot, the first time I run WriteLog, my soundcard is either "deaf" or "dead"
- no audio apparently getting through it to show up
in the MMTTY display. Closing Rttyrite and reopening Rttyrite (or WriteLog)
causes the soundboard to start working again. This
happens on both the internal sound card to the PC and the Codec soundcard in
the IC-7600.
I've decided not to spend any more time on it right now unless I can think of
something different to do. But complete full
installations of WriteLog, MMTTY and the MMTTY plug-in didn't solve the problem.

Subject: Re: [WriteLog] Error Message when Writelog 10.77H is started up
Lo and Behold if I didn't start getting this error today while doing some
unrelated testing of WriteLog.
After screwing around thinking it was a USERPARA.INI file problem (now I'm
convinced it's not), I did radical changes.
I uninstalled EVERYTHING - MMTTY, MMTTY PLUG-IN FOR WRITELOG and WRITELOG and
all 3rd party modules.
I reinstalled MMTTY, reboot, WRITELOG FULL clean install of 10.77h, reboot,
MMTTY plug-in for WriteLog, reboot - getting same error.
Funny thing is that error doesn't happen after a reboot but occurs after
second, third, fourth, etc opening of WL.
Uninstalled everything again.
Reverted back to WL 10.76 full install - reinstalled other components - getting
same error.
It's got me stumped...
Tonight I'm going to use CCLEAN to clean my registry with everything
uninstalled and try again tomorrow.

I also see this message intermittently from the MMTTY plug-in. I'm running
under Vista 32 bit and I just tried Don's suggestion
about renaming the USERPARA.INI file, starting the full MMTTY program (mine is
at C:\MMTTY\) and letting MMTTY create a new
USERPARA.INI file. Glad Don suggested I rename the original one
USERPARA_old.INI first, because after MMTTY created a new parameter
file RTTYRITE wouldn't run. Every time I started it up I got the message
'"RTTYRITE MFC Application has stopped working." I
deleted the new parameter file and renamed the "old" file back to its original
name.
When I restarted WL RTTYRITE the MMTTY parameter error message appeared again,
but when I closed the error message box RTTYRITE
started and ran normally.
Not sure why this happened, but I did notice that the original USERPARA.INI
file is 8 kB in size whereas the new one MMTTY created
was only 3 kB in size. I didn't change the parameter file for the plug in
located in C:\Program Files\WriteLog\Programs (also 8 kB)
so I'm wondering if there was some sort of problem between the two different
parameter files being a different size? The MMTTY path
name in writelog.ini is correct - points to the USERPARA.INI file in the full
MMTTY progarm location.
Anyway, before I trash something up and can't get it working right again I
think I'll beat a hasty retreat and suffer the
intermittent error messages that pops up. That will have to remain one of
life's mysteries for now.
