Hello Steve,
some times ago I built up two computers with different motherboards. Both
motherboards had AC97-soundsystem onboard and oth should work with two
soundcards under Win2000.
- For the first motherboard it was o.k. to pull in a PCI-soundcard and both
were working fine after installing the additional driver.
- For the second motherboard there was absolutely no chance to let the
onboard soundsystem work together with an additional card. NO CHANCE!! My
solution was quite simple. I disabled the AC97-onboard system in the BIOS
and used two PCI-soundcards. That worked fine again.
So I am sure that this is not a problem of you rO/S but of the chipset and
the BIOS of yout motherboard.

Betreff: [WriteLog] 2 sound cards not working
I know this isn't a Writelog problem, but i've seen a number of posts here
about running 2 sound cards.
The Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card works fine, but the on board ac97 sound
isn't recognized. Device manager shows a yellow dot with exclaimation point
and tells me it can't start due to a code 10 error.
If I pull the Santa Cruz out of the slot and reboot, the ac97 works fine.
Put it back in and the Santa Cruz works but no ac97. I've tried
uninstalling and reinstalling the ac97, but same results.
Windows XP and HP Pavillion desktop pc. No more open slots to install
another soundcard and forget the ac97. Any Ideas?
Tnx, Steve KW3A
