When I first bought WriteLog (spring 98??) I used it only for RTTY and stuck
with NA for contesting in other modes. Then in late 99 the old DOS computer
developed problems and I was forced to use the newer computer which did not
have an ISA slot for the W9XT contest card. Because of this I used Writelog in
the Jan 2000 NAQP. Since they I've never looked back and have used it for SSB,
CW and RTTY contesting.
It is not a clone of the DOS programs so there is some learning involved. But,
in the end it is well worth it. Trying to treat Writelog as a clone of your
current DOS logger is a definite mistake that will give you grief.
I cannot brag very much about my results with Writelog, but this is a function
or the operator and station location (the black hole of IA) rather than
Writelog. My only half way brags are top 10 Phone Only (not a real hame mode)in
the 2001 IARU and ARRL 10 meter contests.
But, now even the Big Multi ops are switching to Writelog. As in K4JA and N0NI
(the two I know of). On the Single Op side K5ZD making the swith was a
definite plus for Writelog.
Oh, anyone interested in a used W9XT contest card, as I now have no use for it??

Hey Writelog users,
Is Writelog truly a usable contest logging program?
I've watched the reflector mail for a week and I'm
not encouraged. Far too many problems with what
appears to be dismal documentation.
Even though I've been a legal owner of Writelog for
more than a year, I'm afraid to use it.
I want to operate Oceania contest while my XYL
tries to beat her own record in CQP. I'd really like
to use a WIN progrmn; she will use a DOS program
for CQP. Probably CT.

I've not yet installed 10.34B. If I do try to install this
version on a WIN98 machine, will I wish I hadn't?
