The thing that has kept me going with this hobby over almost 4 decades is
that there are always new things to learn. I enjoy contesting because it
provides an impetus to develop and improve my station and to hone my
operating technique.
Of course, opinion on what constitutes an improvement in technique will
always be wide and varied, but the measure is in the contest results rather
in the views of the eagerly opining minority.
IMO Those who would legislate the enterprise out of contesting do the sport
a serious disservice.
Long may the spirit of innovation and enterprise prosper in contesting and
may those who only want to see things done their way, do so quietly :-))
