My garbage cans are made of plastic.
Didn't hear about that, but my longest 2 meter contact was with a mag
mount stuck to the side of my car. Just a bit over 2300 miles. SSB,
running about 20 - 25 watts from an IC-271A. We chatted for a few
minutes before others showed up on the frequency.
I do have a 220 mag mount, but the rig is a Yaesu FT-127, without
CTCSS I can't even bring up repeaters. It does pick up a few FM Q's
on contest weekends on 223.5. I got it many years ago because a
friend was into 220 FM, then he moved away a year or two later.
