Hello Jay & Tom,

Well I never used the circuit breaker as a power switch. That is good to know, but I never use any breaker as a switch.  I switched it only after it failed wondering if I might clear out some "schmutz" with a few cycles. All I succeeded in doing was render the breaker inoperative at all after about five attempts at re setting it.  Looking at it, it is a very old one and probably one that I did not replace when I swapped out all the breakers years ago. I found a bag of breakers that had two 30 amp units that appeared unused. Not sure about that, but it did work when I installed it. Meanwhile, I have another brand new one on the way from Eaton, and will swap it out when it arrives. Never a dull moment around here. Last night I did monitor the breaker body temperature and it stayed very cool.

Thanks for the info.

Single pole 15- and 20-amp circuit breakers are allowed to be used a

Not sure how you use your circuit breakers ... but they're not intended for
use as on/off switches. I've abused them in that manner myself and can
attest to shorter than expected like span. Usually they get flakey before
they crap out altogether.

You may already be aware of this ... if so, nevermind.
