Hello VHFers
Hooboy it looks like Tuesday just snuck up on me. I will be on 222 MHz
this evening starting at about 6:45 local time, which is now 23:45 UTC.
Daylight Savings changes always mess me up for a few days. 00:00 UTC is
now 7 PM instead of 8 PM. Anyway the plan is to get on after evening
chow. Even if you can only spare a few minutes, try to get on and work a
few locals if you are in an activity area. If you are like Buddy,
WB4OMG, then you might have to devote a bit more time to make a
contact. He is a bit off the beaten path and also needs a yagi to
improve his 222 contact totals!! Speaking of contact totals, I was
flirting with 30 QSOs last week. I cheated a bit and had a few EME
contacts thrown in the mix, but it sure would be nice to hit the 30 QSO
benchmark on a Tuesday. I'll bet Good Buddy Ron, WZ1V is properly
located to pull it off. I forget what the status of prizes are for the
first one to do it. The bass boat and trailer are gone and Good Buddy Al
WA1T has noticed that his old truck is missing and he wants it back. I
am working on getting some new good prizes for the future.
So do not forget about 222 activity tonight. The weather here looks
good and actually a bit on the warm side for early November. At 2PM it
is 60 Farenheit. The Hepburn map shows nothing brewing, but I suspect
there might be some local enhancements in evidence. Of course, the Gulf
states are experiencing fantastic tropo around the area there.
CU all this evening.
