Hello all- Just read that Arnie CO2KK passed away. Very sad news. Working
Arnie on 2 meter E skip in the 1980s was one of my biggest thrills in ham
radio. I didn't know it at the time, but on 2 meters Arnie was running 35
watts to a HB groundplane from EL83 Havana. I was in FN10. That morning six
meters was open to FL and Cuba He announced he was calling CQ on 144200 and I
began to listen for him. I heard a weak cw signal and it was Arnie! I called
him and he came back We exchanged reports, grids and 73s before his signal
faded. We must have hit an ionization hot spot. Arnie later said it was the
first PA to Cuba contact on 2 meters. It was a very neat experience - one I
will always treasure. RIP old friemd.73, Chris W3CMP Sent from my T-Mobile 4G
LTE Device
