I was only on for a short time and snared WZ1V and K9MRI. Ran several 30
second sequences with K1WHS. Was able to copy him about 90% of the time but
no joy on his end. Per his post, the 6dB noise floor increase must be
covering up my signal as he has been able to copy me when he has similar
signals on my end. Wonder if his nearby Channel 11's output filter has
failed or they took it out of the circuit? The chief engineer at a local
UHF television station has shown me the difference before and after a
filter on their tx output. The filter really keeps all rf within the 6MHz
channel slot, right up to the channel's edge. Without the filter, rf is
present outside the channel boundaries. An all digital (not IBOC) AM
station's digital sidebands had precluded receiving any other station
within +/-30kHz until they cleaned it up. Digital hash can really ruin
your day. WA3EOQ
