It depends where you plan to drive. I believe most semi trucks are 14', so
definitely stay under there. We run with an 11' mast. You have to watch
bridges. We avoid the Merritt Parkway in CT and such, 8' clearances and
under in places. You really have to watch branches on smaller roads, be
paranoid. 13' may be a bit tall. Go where the semis go and you'll be fine.

Make sure you spot yourself and send out your plans, fixed stations will
look for you if they know you're out there. If you head North towards PA,
you'll be heading into Packrats territory and there are quite a few
stations to work. Email their mailing list as well as this list. The
W3SZ/K1RZ database (http://w3sz.x10.mx/k1rz/k1rzmaster.htm) is another good
place.
