I'm also very disappointed over this "surprise" - I didn't see it
coming. I usually operate in the August UHF contest and pick up a few
new grids each year, I've even won some wallpaper in the past. Since I
am planning to retire this June, I was expecting to finally have time
to repair / refurbish / upgrade my UHF antennas and equipment in
preparation for the August UHF Contest. Murphy's Law I guess.
Yes I will get on for this event even if the ARRL is no longer the
sponsor.
BTW - I have not completed VUCC on any UHF band yet, so becoming more
active on UHF is a major item on my "bucket list" and losing the
August UHF contest is a setback.
