It is a great idea.
Instead of purging, simply keep a "Most Recently Requested" list, never remove
an entry, but have a voting scheme for the most wanted. You could even extend
it by having the user who enters the grid, enter their own grid so you could
have "most wanted grids" based on other grids, or based on regions.
