For those of you concerned about conflicts with the NFC and AFC
Championship games, you might consider moving to northeast Ohio.
No playoff worries here, and the nearby markets of Detroit and Buffalo
haven't been too hot lately either.

p.s. I also think a Friday night contest start is a bad idea.

As a rover in the January contest for more than 20 years, I believe that
the current hours are quite reasonable. It allows for either setting up Sat
AM, or driving to the far spot on the itinerary. In either case, it is a
consistent time with the other VHF contests. When I was working a job on
Saturdays when I was younger, although I'd miss a few hours at the start, I
could generally get on after 5PM and still enjoy a lot of contacts. I don't
see the rules and dates/times as broken now. As for the issue of what weekend
and the challenge of finding a better spot, It has been worked over
enough. At least the Super Bowl has been moved to a weekend that doesn't
conflict. Rick K1DS/R
