My boom will be a fiberglass 25 foot length of 2 inch high pressure gas line.
it is very heavy duty but very light to hold. less than 5 lbs.
I would use a set of vertical and also horizontal elements. I'll use a drill
press to drill the holes.
I'd size the vertical elements for the upper end of the band where most
repeaters and mobiles would be and the horizontal elements for the lower end of
two meters where most cw and sideband activity is.
One of my helpful local elmers suggested I could use a full wavelength of
ladder line from each of the feed points on the driven element to the relay box
that would be on the bottom of the boom. The relay would short the feed point
of one while the other would then feed the coax down the tower 125 feet to the
entrance to the shack. He thinks that the shorted wavelength would thus be
tansparent to the tuning.
Anybody have any comments?
