Where was everybody? Actually I know they were there, but I just could not hear
them. I was looking for W3ZZ and K1RZ in FM19, but never heard anything from
them even though they were both QRV. I was in the middle of a pretty intense
storm system. We lost power at the house at 3:30 PM. It was out for a few
hours. My ham shack runs on emergency power anyway, so I was not worried about
missing the Sprint. The storm made conditions just awful. Conditions were
depressed all evening, although N3RG in FM29 got stronger later on. He was very
weak at 8 PM, but was peaking up at S8 or maybe S9 at 10 PM.
I ended up with 27 Qs and 11 grids. My last snagged grid was FN41. Many of
the usual grids were missing. Last week, I had 20 grids on 222 MHz. 432 is
normally more active than 222, but not this time. I quit at 10 PM. It was still
raining and windy.
