Just got around to replying to February e-mail in August, George? :-)
Been there. No problem.
I can't confirm/refute your claim that you've "won" nor in what category
or categories, since apparently ARRL doesn't publish past winners on
their website, so okay... we'll give you that one. That is interesting,
that there's zero historical public record (other than old magazine
copies?) of past winners of the contest? Weird. That'd be like saying
we have no record of who won the Olympics, took 2nd place, 3rd, etc.
I just know what I've heard from talking to the regular 1st, 2nd and 3rd
place overall winners in recent years. They have lots of skeds.
They're not going to share the rest of their contesting "secrets" with
little old me, so whatever. But they do win, year after year.
Since February when I posted this, I've gotten even less interested in
Contesting rules debates. Aviation is taking over my free time, and
getting involved in debates about all the completely inconsistent rules
ARRL has between all of their contests, and that apparently have no
overall goal or strategy behind them... is utterly boring.
A recent example might be the addition of "Unlimited" rules to rovers
et. al. in June last year, but then turning around and banning the use
of Internet and other tools in the EME contest this year... why not have
a consistent strategy? An "Unlimited" could have been created for
EME... is anyone driving the bus over there?
But that'd make too much sense...
Thanks for the reply. I might have been more interested in February.
Right now, 6 months later with outdoor activities taking up more time
than they could due to WX in February, I seriously don't care...
Had more fun flying the aircraft over the contest group for aerial
photos for the QSL card than I had operating, although I did operate a
bit at W0KVA and helped with setup and tear-down... hanging out with
friends, having fun... is of course, what it's all about in the end.
