The majority of posters on this reflector seem to be ARRL contest focussed.

To first correct one error just posted, the points values in the CQ contest are
as follows: 1 point for 6M and 2 points for 2M regardless of mode, per grid.

The maximum points a Rover can attain from each grid working others including
Rovers is 3 points in CQ.
The maximum points a Rover can attain from each grid working others including
Rovers is 36 points in the ARRL if running 12 bands.
Grid circling is relatively ineffective in CQ but very effective in ARRL.

Capturing the World Rover results for the past 3 years in CQ WW VHF finds the
following:

2006 - 79,002 VE3CRU/R 1st Place World Rover, 6th place overall, no VE in log
          37,680 VE5UF/R
            3,988 VE3OIL/R
VE3CRU/R and VE5UF/R ran 6M only in this contest. What an opening!!!

2007 - 32,620 VE3CRU/R 1st Place World Rover, 3rd place overall, 1 VE3/r Q
            4,140 E20RUZ/R
            3,424 HS3PMT/R
            3,362 VE3SMA/R
            2,280 HS8TRY/R
            1,092 VE3OIL/R
               833 VE7MM/R

2008 - 18,612 VE3CRU/R 1st Place World Rover, 4th place overall
            1,316 VE3OIL/R
               864 E20YLM/R
               396 US1IAA/R
                 60 UT3IB/R
                 56 US6IFV/R
                 48 UX2IQ/R

USA scores are separate to World scores. As you can see, Rovering has not
caught on around the world.

Plaques were awarded in 2006 and 2007 for 1st Place World Rover, but the plaque
program was suspended for 2008 for all. The World Rover category does not
appear for the year 2009.

I am happy to report that clean contesting was always used by me in attaining
these results. My Rovermobile is equipped to work the contest.

73,

Bill VE3CRU/R
