If you do decide you want a IC-7000, it can be had for just under 1100 I
think on Friday and Saturday.

I have a FT-897 with the internal power supply that can switch between
110/230V and it makes a great travel radio. The noise blanker works very
well (see my website for a demo). 

If I had to make a choice now, I would buy a IC-7000, but I realize that
without qualifying this choice it doesn't mean much. The excess of
tryptophan circulating in my body prevents me from writing too much tonite.
