I got married to a terrific lady on September 6th, the week before the
contest, at St. Clements Castle on the Ct. River with many ham friends,
normal friends (lol), family and Veteran friends. My wife to be, found a
person in Canada that makes custom wedding cake toppings. She took pictures
of both my Rohn45 towers and sent them to him. He made 2 EXACT replicas of
both towers and stacked antennas using tinned wire. He even made the cross
braces on the tower and had a base with stand down arms to support the
towers, it was an amazing piece of work and both for $50 shipped. This would
make a great inexpensive gift for any ham, wedding or not. You can reach
Darrell at vo1mds@ hotmail.com he would be thrilled to hear from hams. So
where did we go on our honeymoon, you guessed it, straight to the radio room
for the contest. She loves listening to ham radio but does not want to
become one and always takes care of my meals during the contests. She is
beautiful inside and out and never complains about the radio, what is better
than this.
Contest was great even without any openings and my best showing of any
previous contests. Thanks to all the polite, skilled contesters who made
this so enjoyable. Oh, I do plan on taking Marsha on a real honeymoon less
radios...hihi
