Bob,
To get a 1/2 S-unit (3-dB) advantage, you will need to
double the size of your antenna (to 8-elements). Is
that worth it or even possible for you?
On the other hand, you can get greater DX by raising
your present antenna -- which lowers your vertical
angle of radiation. The trade-off is that you won't
perform as well on high-angle Es.
The most competitive stations would stack 4/4 and have
the ability to operate with either independently or
both combined to allow for maximum flexibility.
