Michael, I ran into that problem with my "New Style" KB6KQ loop last June contest. What I discovered was that the loading coil inside the matching assembly had come loose at the loop and was causing the problems. I used some lock tite and sealed the screws on permanantly but I was still not really happy with it so I sold it to another ham who uses it here hapilly on his tower and I got Norm to make some of the "Old Style" loops for me to use on the rover. If you don't want to replace the loop, get locktite. Be very careful getting the match box apart however, it's screwed and glued. Hope this helps!
