Dan,
Thank you for your response and Thank You for answering the question. The rules
do not indicate that so you may wish to look at them. Unlike the rules in the
June and September QSO Parties in which it states:
7.1.1. Top Single Operator High and Single Operator Low power in each ARRL/RAC
Section.
The January VHF Sweepstakes for 2004 state:
8. Awards: Certificates will be awarded in the following categories:
8.1. Single operator.
8.1.1. Top single operator in each ARRL/RAC Section.
8.1.2. Top single operator on each band (50, 144, 222, 432, 902, 1296 and
2304-and-up categories) in each ARRL/RAC Section where significant effort or
competition is evident. (Note: Since the highest score per band will be the
award winner for that band, an entrant may win a certificate with additional
single-band endorsements.) For example, if KA1RWY has the highest
single-operator all-band score in the CT Section and her 50- and 222-MHz scores
are higher than any other CT single operator's, she will earn a certificate for
being the single-operator Section leader and endorsements for 50 and 222 MHz.
8.2. Top single-operator portable in each ARRL/RAC Section where significant
effort or competition is evident. (Single operator portable entries are not
eligible for single-band awards.)
8.3. Top rover in each ARRL Division and Canada where significant effort or
competition is evident. (Rover entries are not eligible for single-band
awards.)
8.4. Top multi-operator score in each ARRL/RAC Section where significant effort
or competition is evident. (Multioperator entries are not eligible for
single-band awards.)
8.5. Top limited multioperator in each ARRL/RAC Section where significant
effort or competition is evident. (Limited multioperator entries are not
eligible for single-band awards.)
As you can see there is no mention of High or Low power, only Single Operator.
Thank you for you service and taking the time to answer my question. I will
post it so others who have asked me know the answer and your response. Maybe
someone ought to look at the rules that are posted and modify them a bit for
the January Contest.
I am only trying to make this better ...
Thanks Again

Sweepstakes
Steve:
I am answering your queries on my time over the weekend. I am sorry if you
don't appreciate the answers.
The awards are based on sections for each category, just like every other
ARRL Contest. Since, as my last response says, there are both High and Low
power categories listed in the rules, there will be awards for both Single
Operator high and low power categories.

Subject: Final Certificates and Award Question for the January VHF 2004
Sweepstakes
Dan,
Well I must say I really don't appreciate this non-answer. You know I
rarely ever ask a question, I just go along. I pay my dues to the ARRL, and go
on about my business.
The one time I ask a simple question, not inferring either way whether I
agree or disagree I get two sentences in reply that DO NOT answer the question.
I think it quite ridiculious that this little simple question can't be
answered.
Concerning the January VHF 2004 Sweepstakes .....
The rules do not indicate a low and high power category, is there an award
for both?
If so is it by Section?
That's all I want to know.
I will be posting this on the VHF reflector as there are many of us lower
power slugs who might be interested.
A not so happy

Dan,
Thanks for your reply on Saturday, I did not expect such service.
Is this per Division or just as the top operator?
The rules do not indicate a low power award as the June and September
QSO parties do.
Thanks

Subject: Certificates and Award Question
Dan,
In reviewing the rules for the upcoming January VHF Sweepstakes
2004 I noticed awards for all categories except low power. Is this an oversight
or by design?
If in fact it is by design why have the category at all?
Just curious, as a low power op who really attempts to compete I
was just wondering.
Thanks for your reply
