>Hook up with other rovers in your area. Easily the best advice anywhere! Go out with someone for your first trip and watch what they do. Some of it might not apply to you (yet) but seeing someone else work before you solo is a great help. It was to me! Also, find a local VHF+ group and borrow some gear.
