Jim's comments got me thinking that you might want to look at the FT-847 if
you're looking for a radio that is somewhat closer to the HF Rig/Transverter
performance level in a single box.
The 847 has separate RF outputs for HF, 6, 2 and 70cm which is very
convenient. Each output is adjustable independently too.
It's not perfect, but does a good job especially on 6, 2 and 70cm. It's HF
performance is probably slightly better than the FT-100, but it is a
"casual" use HF rig in my opinion.
