Open wire coax (multiple center conductors surrounded by four return 
conductors in a square configuration) has been widely used from LF 
through HF since the earliest days of broadcasting.
It was still in place when several of us toured both RX and TX KPH sites 
after Visalia about ten years ago.

The transmitting station is 20-30 miles down the coast.
