All:It would be interesting to model the 20 meter 4U1UN beacon antenna to see if there's any benefit of mounting a vertical 500 feet above the ground. I assume the combination of height and a steel roof ground plane gives it a lower-angle of radiation than it would have if it were mounted much closer to the ground. Wonder how that same vertical would compare if it were mounted on the beach with a seawater ground plane?
