Gary,
Placement may depend on your type of lightning arrestor. Some pass DC,
others don't. Check the specs for yours.

Thanks to so many positive replies
regarding the Green Heron remote switch and associated hardware I ordered
the same today including the 12V injector.
Looks like I'll have to locate the
injector outside, after the lightning
protector & figure how to best keep
lightning off of that, maybe a spare lead acid 12V & charge it on good days
so as to not bring leads indoors. I'll have a week to figure it out, before
the components arrive.
