My solution at the cottage is an 80m drooping dipole / Vee centre at ~12m
(40ft) fed with open wire to a Z-match balanced tuner. Does 80 - 10 and
I've even squeezed a few 6m contacts out of it (6 DXCC - HI) as well. Not a
band opener but it does get out reasonably well (~150 DXCC in casual
operation - better things to do at the lake) without much directionality.
For the location on the Canadian shield - granite covered with a thin layer
of soil (LA/OH/SM also know what this means) - balanced feeders were a way
to minimize RF in the shack. To illustrate the lack of soil, hydro
(electric) entrance ground rods are installed horizontally.
