Thanks for the link Dick,
That will be quite helpful.
This is not my first tower, but it will be my first crankup. The size
of the hole is quite intimidating.
I marked out the spot for the 5.5 square foot hole which will be 9'
deep. I took into account the current fence, the current guys wire
placement for the 45g tower and put some thought into future changes to
the landscape.
Hopefully the coefficient of Murphy will not intrude into my calculations.

Hello Rich-
I just finished a crank up 72’ US Tower install this Spring.
I have had no interference at my shack which is about 25-30’ from the
tower.
I learned quite a few lessons from this install. Some of the forum
helped me in this endeavor so I decided to chronicle the whole episode
in case others needed help, too.

The fun begins with the June 2017 issue.

I have an opportunity to have a crank up tower installed. A local
buddy has a hycro-vac rig to dig my hole. The advantages to
hydro-vac is an accurate hole and the dirt is hauled off.
I already have two guyed towers up. This crank up will be my
retirement tower (ie won't have to climb). For now it will be a
useful 3rd tower for 6 meters and maybe a decent size 12m/17m antenna.
The best location to put it is about 25' from my steel building
shop/shack. This location keeps the feed line relatively short and
will allow me to tilt the tower over as intended.
For those of you with a tower near your shack do you have any RFI
issues or noise issues? If you did were you able to solve them.
This tower will be properly grounded and tied to the shop/shack
ground system.
Thanks in advance.
