Make a jig, using two fishing swivels to hold the wires, for the drill.
Then the wires themselves won't twist and the twisted pair will not want to
unravel.

Also beware of vendors selling that shiny red/black zip cord -- the
copper is often several gauges smaller than it's advertised, with
thicker than usual insulation. And zip cord is a terrible choice for
power and loudspeaker wiring, because it's a sitting duck for RFI.
FAR better to use twisted pair, which is much harder to buy but easy to
roll your own. Simply buy lengths (or spools) of black and white
stranded THHN, stick one end of both conductors in a hand drill, the
other end in a vise, and run the drill slowly for a while. Let the
twisted conductors sit overnight in the drill and vise. They will try to
untwist, but letting them sit minimizes that. The twist will not be
perfectly uniform, but it will be plenty good enough.
