It appears that these were very expensive antennas, I hope that you did
not pay much for it. It is possible that the resistor is not working or
you have a connection problem. With a 50' tower you have many good
antenna options. I triband beam and dipoles for the lower bands would work
well. I think you have been licensed for about 1 1/2 years. K9YC
recommendation to read the ARRL Antenna Handbook is great advice.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Barker & Williamson Model AC - 1.8 - 30 Antenna

I recently installed a Barker & Williamson Model AC - 1.8 - 30 Antenna. I
installed it as a sloper following the manufacturers instructions. The top of
the sloper is mounted on a tower at 50 ft. The opposite end of the antenna is
attached to a post 9 feet above the ground. At this location, the antenna is
grounded with the counterpoise. The other end of the counterpoise is not
grounded at the opposite end ( at the tower).
PROBLEM: I can not get anywhere near a descent VSWR using a IC-756 Pro III.
Please get me some suggestions to solving this problem.
I have photos if desired.
Thanks to the TowerTalk users for their help!
