Luciano,
You might try a glass/window company (or curtainwalls) as they use 6061 T6
aluminum in most of their products for windowall and curtainwall. It might be
also possible to find some square tubing using sizes that would go into each
other.

Another thought is to check out hand-rail suppliers as the top rails of
handrails are often round.

 Bryan et al,

Yes, I'm located in Western Brazil. As I have explained on previous emails,
import and remaining taxes will add another 70% on the top of piping and
freight thus, the reason for building my antennas instead of buying them.

There are some aluminum mills within Brazil but they require a 300Kg per
diameter minimum order. I neither have the money for that huge quantity nor a
warehouse that large to stock them.

BTW, 6061-T6 pipes are not found on shelves in my country. Special order only.

I hope the above proves helpful.

If his info on QRZ is correct, Luciano appears to be in Brazil. When I Googled
aluminum tube brazil, I found outfits named Sapa and Ryerson in Brazil. There
may be others.
Shapiro Metal appears to have only ≤ 72" (183 cm) lengths. For 40m, he may want
longer lengths. I suggest shopping locally.

I have bought a lot of .058 wall 6061-t6 from Shapiro Metal on eBay.
http://stores.ebay.com/Shapiro-Metal-Supply?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 but
exporting to EU would be very expensive.  Metric tubing is likely more
available to you and it will work perfectly fine.

Dear colleagues,

After receiving answers to my previous emails regarding a 40m antenna
recommendation, I decided to build my own using the information provided
on the
22nd ARRL Antenna Book.

The antenna has a 32ft boom and uses 6061-T6 aluminum piping.

Shall I use drawn piping instead of extruded ones?

Where can I buy 2-1/4" and 2" with 0.083" wallthickness and 20 feet long
6061-T6 drawn aluminum piping?

I will also need 1", 7//8" and 3/4" by 0.058" wallthickness and 20ft long
6061-T6 drawn aluminum piping.

Could anyone lead me to a good store within the US that I can import such
tubes
and associated plates for build such antenna, please?

Has anyone on this list ever built that antenna?

Luciano Gasparini PT9KK
