Getting off topic, but back in the 70s/80s, amateur publications
were claiming that if you were building something that you wanted to
silver plate after fabrication (eg. a VHF/UHF amplifier tank
circuit), silver solder was a must. The claim was that silver
plating would not stick to soft tin/lead solder. I have never known
for certain whether this is true.
