Stew,
My G-2800DXA has the newer Molex style plug but
the resistance readings are as follows -
Pins 1, 2 and 3 go to the 500 ohm position pot
with pin 2 being the wiper. Also pin 3 is
grounded at the rotor. So my measured resistance
from pin 1 to 3 was 506 ohms. Pin 1 to 2 was 288
ohms and pin 2 to 3 was 221 ohms with the rotor at
45 degrees at the full CCW position pin 1-2 was
502 ohms and at the CW stop pin 1-2 was 70 ohms.
Pins 4 and 5 go to the motor and with the rotor
not at a mechanical stop the resistance was 12
ohms
With the rotor at the CCW stop pins 4-5 read
continuity thru the reversing diode with the
multimeter + lead on pin 4 and pins 5 to 6 read
continuity with the multimeter + lead on pin 5.
Also with the rotor at the CW stop pins 4-5 read
continuity with pin 5 + and pins 4 to 6 read
continuity with + lead on pin 4.
All other combinations of reading between pins 4,5
and 6 were infinite with the rotor at a mechanical
stop.
I once had some very erratic operation of this
unit and I found water had entered an outdoor
splice that was allowing a high resistance between
the position pot circuit and the motor control
circuit apparently confusing both the position
indicator and motor control. There should be an
open between the motor control and position
indicating circuits.
Hope this helps.
73,
Dale AA1QD
