Norms Fab has the equalizing plates a heck of a lot cheaper than Rohn, and they
are galvanized, too.

With only two tier of guys use the proper equalizing plate.
Equalizer plates are very easy to make, BUT you will need a good UV
resistant paint that is mechanically durable. As long as ROHN has them
it'd be a good idea to stick with theirs.
They are simply a triangle with rounded corners and a bolt hole near
each corner. Mine are 3/8" steel, I've made them out of 1/2" for
larger, They should match up "fairly well" to the clevis on the
turnbuckle.
They make galvanized turnbuckles with a clevis on one end (for the
equalizer plate) and an eye for the cable thimble on the other.
Turnbuckles for 3/8" are pretty good size at 2' to 3' long when extended.
The nice thing about using turnbuckles and an equalizing plate is the
tension tends to "equalize" between the two cables. Not so with more
than two connections.
Follow the directions for tensioning the cables. You want the tower to
stay plumb. If necessary seen professional guidance in setting the tension.
