Hello Jari.
An elegant and cost effective solution for you would be to use a magnetic pulse
counter and a green heron rt21 controller.
Basically you mount two llittle magnets on an arm screwed unto the output shaft
of your ac or dc motor (that turns the gearbox). And there is a magnetic pulse
counter mounted to detect the "pulses".
I can send you pictures of how I do this. The mag spinner kits cost less than
$40 US.
